Everyone in Gaza is hungry !

Following the conflict in Gaza, the SOS Chrétiens d’Orient mission in Egypt mobilizes to aid Palestinian civilian families facing extreme hunger. “People often go all day and all night without eating. Adults go hungry so that children can eat.”* UN humanitarian agencies are even more alarming: “Half of Gaza’s population is starving.”

Since October 7, SOS Chrétiens d’Orient has been closely following all international initiatives to support the trapped Palestinian families in Gaza. After an initial operation to support families from the Greek Orthodox parish of Saint-Porphyre, the association responded to the call of the Union des Français à l’Etranger (UFE) and the Franco-Egyptian Chamber of Commerce to charter a first humanitarian convoy of food products for the people of Gaza.

“Humanitarian aid is crucial for the Palestinian populations in Gaza, especially in this time of armed conflict. The war causes major disruptions, particularly in the supply of food resources. It is families with infants who are most impacted. The supply of powdered milk then becomes a vital necessity for these infants. We have therefore decided to come to their concrete aid by sending goods adapted to their needs.” Aubert du Marais, chief of mission in Egypt.

On December 21 and January 4, parcels containing canned food, cheese, and infant powdered milk were delivered to Gaza through collaboration between the Egyptian Red Crescent and the Palestinian Red Crescent. Part of the cargo was financed through your donations and will feed Palestinian families in Gaza suffering from food distress.

The dangerous context of violent clashes in Gaza prevents volunteers from delivering these parcels to the starving inhabitants themselves, but they have committed wholeheartedly to their preparation and storage.
