Families in the Syunik border region of southern Armenia are suffering from the lack of medical equipment.
Patients who are suffering from cardiac emergencies have currently to be transported to Yerevan, a town more than 3 hours away by road. Such a delay is catastrophic for the treatment of myocardial infarction and stroke.
The installation of an imaging scanner at the Franco-Armenian Cardiology Centre in Goris will represent a significant step forward in the provision of care for families in the region.
Imagine what it means to an Armenian child to see his grandfather or uncle collapse in front of his very eyes, clutching his chest! By the time he is transported to the hospital in another city, it was almost too late. However, due to the lack of resources, patients still have to be sent to Yerevan, a 3-hour drive away. The chances of survival are minimal.
But it is possible to overcome this problem! By giving a latest-generation radiography scanner to the Goris heart centre, it is possible to significantly reduce the time taken to treat a patient, and save lives.
This scanner will help to diagnose cases, and enable a better treatment. The stress and fear of the war lurking on the borders, the number of cardiac incidents continues to rise. To stop Armenians dying, help us here to help them there.
Your donations will help Armenian families to face up to the heart disease effectively. In this region, which has been severely damaged by war, we want to do our best to limit the number of deaths that can occur, and to enable Armenians to benefit from better medical care.
After the war, people in Syunik lost hope. The improvement of this centre will create jobs and prove to the local people that they can receive a good medical care here as well as in Yerevan. The donation you are making is already great, but the hope it gives us is even greater.
