Label city of heart

The label “Ville de Coeur des Chrétiens d’Orient” (City of the Heart of the Christians of the East) brings together a dozen French cities distinguished for their support of the work of SOS Chrétiens d’Orient or of the Christians of the East.

This label is a testimony of the commitment of these cities in favour of communities threatened in several dozen countries in the world because of their religious affiliation.

The label is based on shared values and objectives:

• a neutral and independent humanitarian commitment.
• material and moral support.
• a constant focus on education.
• an economic investment or an incentive to do so with the inhabitants to ensure the sustainable development of the populations on their ancestral lands.
• monitoring and protecting the heritage.
• promotion and support of the assets of these communities: culture, crafts, traditions, customs, know-how, etc.

The label is certified by the recognised expertise of SOS Chrétiens d’Orient, an association present in several countries of the Middle East all year long.

The label is an asset for the awarded municipalities. It shows the commitment of elected officials to the harmonious cohabitation of communities and to the protection of populations threatened with extinction. It is awarded for a period of two years.

Created in 2019, the City of the Heart label was awarded for two years to 13 municipalities.
The panel of awarded municipalities is wide, varied and representative of the cities of France. The political colours of the municipalities are also varied.
